About “Skyworm”
Skyworm is a product of imagination, creativity, and collaboration.
Meow Wolf’s internal team came up with the balloon’s concept and design.
It was brought to life by the artist Jeff Hantman and creative director, Chadney Everett.
The design of the hot air balloon is a masterful illusion that challenges perspective and is quintessential to the Meow Wolf experience.
The creators of “Skyworm” were thrilled to work on this project together.
Jeff Hantman, the artist behind the creation, stated that the opportunity to collaborate with other artists who share his level of passion for creativity was an incredible privilege.
The teamwork that went into the creation of “Skyworm” helped ensure that this artist-designed hot air balloon was unique and unlike anything ever seen before.
Although it has a playful, fun theme, it still maintains the standards of art that Meow Wolf is known for.
Skyworm Details
Meow Wolf’s “Skyworm” balloon is 90,000 cubic feet in volume, 80 feet tall, and 54 feet wide at its equator. Its design has been in the works for over five years.
The balloon has hundreds of panels on it. Every single panel was printed and then sewn together. It’s powered by two burners.
Collaboration
Rainbow Ryders Hot Air Balloon Ride Co., a local hot air balloon company, collaborated on the production of “Skyworm.”
This collaboration ensured that the design, engineering, and inflation process of this artistic marvel were executed correctly.
The result is a vibrant hot air balloon that is a true testament to the creativity and imagination of everyone involved.
