🌟 Discover the Magic of Summersville Lake Retreat and Lighthouse Tour – Mount Nebo, WV!

Hey there, fellow RV adventurers!

Day Number 4! Today we crossed over into Virginia and West Virginia.

Two signs are shown: the left sign says "Welcome to Virginia - Virginia is for Lovers" with a heart icon, while the right sign says "Welcome to West Virginia - Wild and Wonderful" on a highway.

We went through two tunnels, the Walker Mountain tunnel and the East River Mountain Tunnel.

A vehicle approaches (left) then drives inside (right) a tunnel entrance on a highway. The left image, reminiscent of the scenic routes around Summersville Lake Retreat, shows the exterior with trees in the background, and the right image captures the illuminated interior.
Side-by-side images show a truck entering the East River Mountain Tunnel from outside and the same truck driving inside the brightly illuminated tunnel. This scenic drive might remind you of adventures to places like Summersville Lake Retreat.

🌟 We drove 159 miles and stopped at Summersville Lake Retreat and Lighthouse in Mount Nebo, WV.

I came across Summersville Lake Retreat by accident while searching for a place to stop for the night.

It was the lighthouse that made me book this location.

A tall lighthouse towers against a backdrop of trees, illuminated at its base and top, standing on a grassy area with a small building and outdoor chairs nearby.

But what I didn’t know was that we were so close to the New River Gorge National Park.

And since I purchased my National Parks Passport Stamps book, I’ve been trying to visit as many National Parks and get as many stamps as possible.

We unhooked and went for a ride to the National Park.

Had I known there was so much to do in the area, I would have stayed another night.

That just means that we have to return again.

But the best part is that you can rent a pontoon boat for the day and even kayaks and canoes.

Let’s set our course for the stunning Summersville Lake Retreat and Lighthouse Tour in the heart of Mount Nebo, WV!

🐕 Perfect for Furry Friends

Your four legged furry friend will have a ball in the dog park. Summersville Lake Retreat thought of everything when they built this dog park.

The size of a football field, (okay, maybe I’m exaggerating a little bit,) the park is huge.

A grassy park with trees, a picnic table, a small dog house, and a red ball. Vehicles are visible in the background behind a fence.

A separate part is for little dogs, and another side is for large dogs. The park comes complete with a bucket full of toys, balls, squeaky toys, and Chuck-it ball throwers.

A man fills a dog bowl with water from a large yellow cooler on a picnic table. Nearby, a bucket next to a tree trunk holds various dog toys.

They also thought of a drink for your pet. There is a huge cooler of water with a water bowl for when they get thirsty after playing.

A German Shepherd sniffs a red ball on the grass in a fenced park area with trees in the background.

It’s been a while since Harley has been to a dog park, but you would never know that she was almost 10 years old when inside.

A person in a gray shirt and shorts stands next to a dog, working on a wooden structure in a fenced backyard. There is a picnic table, a yellow container, and green grass surrounding them.

She had so much fun that every time we came outside, she wanted to head over there. Let’s just say she slept well that night.

The posts are all lit up at night.
