Why We Said Never to a Super C – Then Bought One at 6 Years Full-Time
We swore we’d never own a Super C. Then we found a red and black Jayco Seneca Prestige and everything changed. Here’s our story.
The Jayco Seneca Prestige Super C is one of the best full-time RV options on the market. Built on a Freightliner commercial chassis with 360 horsepower, heated tile floors, Aquahot, and a separate washer and dryer, it delivers residential comfort on the road. We said never, then bought one at 6 years full-time and haven’t looked back.
Jayco Seneca Prestige
In 2023, we celebrated 7 years of full time RVing with our dream purchase of a Jayco Seneca Prestige Super C.
It was the best decision we ever made. Be sure to check out our Jayco Seneca RV Review post.

Let me start off with the old saying, “never say never,” has more truth to it than you know.
Within the past couple of years, my husband and I have said we would never buy that, or we would never do that, or we would never own one of those.
Back in 2017, when we started our search for an RV, we never thought we could ever afford a Class A, Diesel, or Super C motorized unit.
Key Takeaways
- We said “never” to a Super C in 2018 — and bought one in 2023 at 7 years full-time
- The Jayco Seneca Prestige drives nothing like a U-Haul truck. We wish we’d taken it for a test drive years earlier
- The Entegra Accolade is the exact same rig; it comes down to color and name preference
- Finding our red and black Prestige sitting next to the rig we were about to sign on was a full-on “everything happens for a reason” moment
- The Prestige upgrades, heated floors, Aquahot, tile, and high-end cabinets are worth it if you’re full-timing
Fast forward to 2023, and we have had all three.

Why Did We Swear We’d Never Own a Super C?
We started our search for a motorized unit in 2018 after having two 5th wheels.
There was a Jayco Seneca that we had looked at. I really, really liked the floor plan.
It had almost everything I wanted and was Red, Gold, and Black. But because it looked like a U-Haul truck, I was worried it drove like one too.

I also thought it was out of our price range (I never looked at the price!) 🙁 Our second mistake was not taking it for a ride.
Have you ever ridden in a U-Haul truck? Take me from me, you don’t want to. It rides like a truck. And it’s not a good ride.
So when looking at the Jayco Seneca Super C, it had all the same looks as a U-Haul. Nope. I said we will never have one of those.

What Went Wrong With Our Previous RVs That Led Us Here?
In January of 2019, we had a lot of problems with our toy hauler.
We were looking for a Class A diesel pusher, but were told we couldn’t get the loan. Never trust the dealer finance department.
So we found a Class A gasser (my husband said he would never own a gasser!) It was a leftover from 2018. I went and found our own financing, and we bought it.

What Almost Made Us Buy the Wrong Rig?
We started having a lot of problems with our Class A Gasser after we had a fire in our breaker box (another story for another day!)
So we started looking around and went to the Tampa RV SuperShow.

There we found a Class A Diesel Pusher that had everything we I wanted. I always have to sleep on big purchases, so we came home.
We talked to our friend Dave, who knows quite a bit. He asked if it had two gas pedals. And we both looked at each other and were like What the heck are you talking about?
I looked at my pictures (because I take way too many pictures, lol) and sure enough, it had two gas pedals.
Well, what does that mean? He said that means it’s entry-level and you don’t want it. No air brakes or nothing!
A few days later, we were driving through the park, and lo and behold, there was in here.
So we stopped and talked to the people. The lady was the one who drove it. They had bought it in Arizona and driven it here in Florida.
She said she loved it…BUT there were two things she didn’t like. The first was that her laminate cupboards were peeling. Ok, that can be fixed.
The second thing…. it didn’t STOP! Say what???? She said when it came time to stop at a street light or something else, it was hard to stop!
Thanks, Dave, for talking us out of that!

How Did We Find Our Red and Black Jayco Seneca Prestige?
We decided to head over to a couple of the local RV shows. Nothing like the Tampa SuperShow, but we could at least look and decide what exactly we were looking for.
At the Ocala RV show, we came across a Jayco Seneca. It was black, grey, and white.
There are three different floor plans that we were looking at. I ruled out the 37K with the bath and a half because it was the same floor plan as our Class A.
If I were buying a new one, I would want something different. I was okay with the 37L with the bunk beds.
However, since I really, really wanted a dishwasher, I wanted a 37M. I could remove the couch, put the dishwasher next to the sink area, and still have a sitting area.
After much looking, I found one. It was used, but only a 2022 with low miles. I was okay with that.
It was actually an Entegra Accolade. It’s a brother from another mother, lol. Same exact thing with a different name. You know, like a Cadillac and GM.
It all comes down to the name. Some think Entegra is better than Jayco. Well, guess what? It’s not!
They are both made on the same line. We went to the factory and saw them being built. They might have different colors, but that’s it! This time, though, we were taking it for a ride.
And let me say that we were kicking ourselves for not taking that one for a ride in 2018.
It drove nothing like a U-Haul truck, lol. Plus, I even drove it. Okay, maybe it was just in the parking lot, but nevertheless, I drove it!

I also had my heart set on red, but since that wasn’t a color choice in the regular Senecas, I would have to find a Prestige if I wanted one.
Is the Jayco Seneca Prestige Worth the Upgrade Over the Standard Seneca?
Searching for the Jayco Seneca Prestige in red wasn’t the only reason I wanted the Prestige.
I loved, loved, loved the tile floors and the heated floors.
Dave also told me that I didn’t want red, I didn’t want tile floors, and I wouldn’t like a Super C. I told Dave I was a rebel child, lol, lol, lol!
- He said I didn’t want red and black because it was hard to keep clean.
- I didn’t want tile floors because they crack.
- And I didn’t want a Super C because you lose all the room in front of the motor and the cab.
But every time I found one online and called about it, it was sold. 🙁 My theory is that everything happens for a reason. So maybe Dave was right.
Time to Purchase
After sleeping on it for about a week, we called and, surprisingly, the black and grey Jayco Seneca was still available.
It was about an hour away, so we made arrangements to come and look at it again.
We get there, and the salesman is like, ” So, are you ready to sign the papers? I said I wanted to look at it one more time. We headed out to the back where it was parked.
Everything Happens For A Reason
We pull up and the golf cart and guess what?????
Sitting right next to it was a JAYCO SENECA PRESTIGE! A RED and BLACK one no less. Wait! What?

Speechless!
We looked at the salesman and asked why he didn’t tell us. I had told him from the start that I wanted a red and black one.
He said it must have just come in and didn’t know it was here. We asked if we could check it out.
It was also a used 2022 Jayco Seneca Prestige 37M with only 8,000 miles on it. It was a dream come true.
After some going back and forth with pricing, we pulled the trigger.

What Do We Love (and Not Love) After Living in It Full-Time?
Pros
- Heated Floors
- Tile floors
- Extra cupboard above the kitchen dinette
- Aquahot
- Solid Surface bathroom sink
- Two heat pumps
- Girard awning
- Separate washer and dryer
- High-end wood cabinets
- We have never gotten so many compliments on any of our previous RVs as we have with this unit!

Cons (these pertain to both the regular and the Prestige)
- Not enough plug outlets inside or out
- The shower bar is not high enough for a 6-foot person.
- No kitchen, fantastic fan. (No matter what I have open, my air fryer sets off the smoke alarm every single time!)
- No USB outlets in the cab
- No drawers in the bathroom
- Lack of a dishwasher hahaha!

Would We Buy the Jayco Seneca Prestige Super C Again?
And there you have it! Our story about the Jayco Seneca Prestige.
In our next post, we will tell you all the deets on the Jayco Seneca. We are heading to a Jayco Rally in Plant City next week.
I hope to see some of y’all Jayco owners there at the Jayco Jubilee or the Tampa RV SuperShow. Stop and say hi if you see us there!

FAQs:
The Prestige adds heated tile floors, Aquahot hydronic heating, high-end wood cabinetry, a Girard awning, two heat pumps, and a solid surface bathroom sink. If you’re full-timing, the Prestige upgrades make a real difference in daily comfort.
We thought so too, until we actually drove one. It rides nothing like a U-Haul truck. The Freightliner chassis with the JRide suspension makes it surprisingly smooth and easy to handle, even for first-time Super C drivers.
Yes, we went to the factory and watched them being built on the same line. The difference is the color options and brand name. We chose the Jayco because we preferred the red and black paint scheme.
We did a 2022 with only 8,000 miles, and it was the right call. The Prestige holds its value well, and a low-mileage used unit can save you significant money over new without sacrificing anything meaningful.
Take it for a test drive the first time you see it. We walked away from one in 2018 without driving it and spent five years wishing we hadn’t. Also, always find your own financing rather than relying on the dealer.
