Camp Margaritaville in Auburndale is not your average RV resort. The second you pull through the gate, you’ll understand why people keep coming back.

The entire property is built around one idea: you shouldn’t have to leave to have a great vacation. Between the palm-lined sites, colorful Adirondack chairs, tiki huts, fire pits, and island-inspired décor everywhere you look, the atmosphere does something to you. It slows you down, and makes you exhale. It feels like Florida is supposed to feel.

What sets it apart from other upscale RV resorts is that it genuinely delivers for every age group: toddlers, teenagers, adults, and grandparents who just want a cold drink and a good sunset. Nobody has to compromise. Everyone finds their thing. And the sheer variety of amenities means you could fill an entire week without ever getting in your car.

But if you do want to use it as a base for Central Florida’s theme parks, beaches, and attractions, the location is perfect for that too.

What Activities and Amenities Does Camp Margaritaville Auburndale Offer?

I have stayed at a lot of RV resorts over nine years on the road. I have never seen anything like this.

The main pool area has something for every age. My younger grandson was completely taken with the splash pad, while my older grandson made a beeline for the larger pool with the big waterslide.

There were plenty of clean, newer lounge chairs for the adults, and here’s a detail I genuinely appreciated: they offer complimentary life jackets and floaties right at the pool. You don’t have to remember to pack them or run back to the rig; they’re just there.

Next to the pool is a family-style pizza and burger restaurant for when you want something fast without firing up the grill. Adjacent to that, you’ll find a gym, a video arcade, a laundromat, and clean restrooms.

There’s also a second newly completed pool toward the back of the resort on the lake.

That pool area has a large dock lined with Adirondack chairs. Perfect for sitting with an adult beverage and watching the cable water skiers on the neighboring property.

Water skiing and wakeboarding lessons are available for an additional fee, which my older grandkids thought was pretty amazing.

What Is There for Kids to Do at Camp Margaritaville?

The Green is where the magic happens for kids. It’s a large open area where paid activities directors run organized games and events every single day, real programming, not just a half-hearted schedule tacked to a bulletin board.

My grandchildren could not wait to get over there each morning.

While we were there, the activities included a build-a-bear-style event and a live bird show that honestly was one of the best things we saw the entire trip.

The mini golf, Parrot Island Mini Golf, is in a completely different league from anything I’ve seen at any other RV resort. It’s not an afterthought. It’s actually fun for the whole family.

What Adult Amenities Does Camp Margaritaville Have?

Right next to The Green is the large adult tiki bar, surrounded by fire pit gathering areas. You can pull up a chair, meet your neighbors, and relax while the kids are close by having a blast.

It’s the kind of setup that makes it easy to be a relaxed grandparent. Everyone is in the same general area, everyone is happy, and nobody is stressed.

What Else Is There to Do at Camp Margaritaville Auburndale?

One of the things that surprised me most was the wildlife. Right on the lakeside of the property, there’s a nature preserve where you can spot Bald Eagles. While we were there, there were actually two Bald Eagles with babies in the nest.

You can even view the nest on a live cam. Tim and I stood there longer than I’ll admit, just watching them. Sorry for the blurry photo, but seeing them in person was absolutely worth it.

There’s also a bike trail right near the front gate that connects to over 30 miles of maintained trails. A great option for getting out and exploring without getting in the car.

Is Camp Margaritaville Dog Friendly?

Harley approves. Camp Margaritaville has five or more Barkritaville dog parks spread throughout the resort. Which means you’re never far from a place to let your pup run.

Even better, there are two dedicated dog spa locations. Each with two bathing stations, complimentary dog shampoo, grooming tables, and dryers. Dog waste stations are placed throughout the entire property.

For full-timers who travel with dogs, this level of pet-friendly infrastructure is rare and genuinely appreciated.

What Is the General Store Like at Camp Margaritaville?

The general store became part of our nightly routine, mostly because every grandkid knew that’s where the ice cream was.

Beyond the treats, it carries basic food staples, RV supplies, toys, and Margaritaville-branded gifts that make for easy souvenir shopping without ever leaving the property.

One feature worth knowing about: refillable cups. Buy one, and you can refill it every 10 minutes during your stay for up to five days. Refill stations are at both the pool and the general store.

The more cups you buy, the more you save. And with a crew of grandkids, we absolutely took advantage of that.

One more perk for full-timers: packages can be delivered on-site at no charge. That’s a small detail that makes a big difference when you live on the road.

What RV Sites Are Available at Camp Margaritaville Auburndale?

Camp Margaritaville offers over 320 RV sites, including 11 Super Premium RV Sites, plus 75 Cabana Cabins for those who want the resort experience without an RV.

We were in our 30-foot Class A with four additional guests joining us. So we booked one of the Motorhome Suite sites to give us extra living and entertaining space. It was one of the best decisions we made.

Our site came with a large tiki hut featuring an L-shaped bar with stools, a full kitchen sink, electric hookups, an outdoor TV, a ceiling fan, a Kamado Joe grill, Adirondack chairs, and a hammock. It was essentially an outdoor living room, and our family spent hours out there every evening.

All roads throughout the resort are paved, the layout is big-rig-friendly, and full hookups are standard. We had zero issues maneuvering the Seneca through the property.

We enjoyed Camp Margaritaville RV Resort so much that we returned two additional times that same year, and I have no doubt we’ll be back again.

Camp Margaritaville RV Resort is located at 361 Denton Ave, Auburndale, FL 33823. Right in the heart of Central Florida, roughly halfway between Tampa and Orlando and about 10 miles from Lakeland.

It’s an ideal home base if you want to explore the area’s theme parks, beaches, or attractions. But as I’ve said, once you’re settled in, you may not want to leave.
